During a recent rally in Reading, former President Donald Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her actions during the North Carolina floods. Trump alleged that Harris attended a fundraiser in San Francisco and recorded a podcast instead of assisting those affected.
"As the floodwaters rose in North Carolina, Kamala flew to a fundraiser in San Francisco, a city she absolutely destroyed [and] recorded a podcast known for its graphic content," said Trump, Candidate For President of the United States. "She did nothing as people struggled and drowned. Day after day and no one came."
Hurricane Helene has caused significant damage in North Carolina, with the death toll reaching 123. The storm brought heavy rainfall, strong winds, and widespread flooding, displacing many residents and causing power outages. Rescue operations are ongoing as emergency crews work to assist affected communities.
Trump accused Harris of engaging in a media blitz while southern states were still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. He claimed she prioritized her fundraising efforts, referring to it as a "comedy tour," while the South was recovering from the storm's impact.
According to Newsweek, Vice President Kamala Harris faced criticism for her handling of Hurricane Helene's aftermath, particularly regarding her coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Harris visited Milton, Florida, where she emphasized FEMA's role in disaster relief. Critics, including Trump, accused her of being slow to respond. The response sparked debates on the federal government’s involvement in state-level crises.
