Former President Donald Trump announced his proposal for a 15% "Made in America" corporate tax rate, reduced from the current 21%, exclusively targeting companies that manufacture their products domestically. This statement was made during a rally on October 9.

"To bring jobs, factories, and wealth racing back to Pennsylvania, we will have a 15% Made in America Corporate Tax Rate, cutting the tax from 21% to 15," said Trump, Candidate For President of the United States. "But ONLY for those who make their product in America. For those who DON'T make their product in America, they will be forced to pay a rather stiff tariffs for the privilege of competing with our cherished companies, and stealing our jobs, our treasure, and our wealth."

According to a recent poll conducted by the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, and Siena College, Vice President Kamala Harris holds a narrow lead over Trump in Pennsylvania, with 50% compared to Trump's 47%. The poll is one of several indicating a close race between the two candidates in this key swing state for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

During a speech at the Economic Club of New York, Trump detailed his economic strategy centered on revitalizing American manufacturing. He proposed reducing the corporate tax rate to 15% for U.S.-based production and suggested creating a sovereign wealth fund dedicated to investing in national infrastructure projects. Additionally, he emphasized decreasing regulations and boosting U.S. energy production as measures to reduce costs. Trump's plan also includes penalties for outsourcing jobs and initiatives to enhance domestic production with the goal of strengthening the economy and minimizing dependence on foreign imports.

In another recent address, Trump reiterated his intention to impose tariffs on Chinese imports. He argued that these tariffs are necessary to protect manufacturing jobs in Pennsylvania and counteract what he perceives as unfair trade practices by China. Trump underscored his commitment to repatriating jobs and decreasing reliance on foreign imports as strategies to bolster the local economy. Recent polling by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette indicates that most Americans support tariffs against China.
