The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Bureau of Recreation and Conservation has awarded grants to Washington Township and Fleetwood Borough. These funds are part of the Community Conservation Partnerships Program, which supports local governments and organizations in projects related to parks, recreation, and conservation.
Representative David Maloney expressed satisfaction with the allocation. "I am pleased to announce funding for revamping the Barto Community Park and the Fleetwood Community Pool," Maloney stated. He noted that applications for these grants are accepted annually, emphasizing that these projects will enhance recreational opportunities in their respective areas.
Washington Township received $26,000 to develop a master site plan for the 19-acre Barto Community Park. This project will involve creating an electronic written report and site development drawings.
Fleetwood Borough was granted $249,800 for the rehabilitation of Fleetwood Community Pool. The renovation includes updates to the comfort station, installation of fencing, ADA access improvements, landscaping, project signage, and other related enhancements.
