Grant funding amounting to $250,000 has been allocated to East Penn Manufacturing (EPM) through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP), as announced by Representative David Maloney of Berks County.

Maloney emphasized the significance of this project for the community, stating, “East Penn Manufacturing is the largest employer in Berks County and funding this project will enhance the company’s wastewater treatment plant.” He also reflected on his past legislative efforts, saying, “I was proud to have passed legislation in 2017 designating a portion of State Route 1010 in Berks County as the DeLight Breidegam Jr. Memorial Highway. DeLight was the essence of a true servant-leader in our community. His legacy not only resides in the remarkable organization he founded and built, but also in the countless lives he touched and inspired.”

The grant will be utilized for constructing an additional building at EPM's existing wastewater treatment facility. The funds are earmarked for various construction needs including site work, concrete, masonry, steel, roofing, doors, painting, mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP), sprinkler/fire alarm systems, and related expenses. EPM will provide matching funds to cover equipment costs along with some construction activities, permitting, and design work. The land required for this expansion is already owned by EPM.
