Rep. Jamie Barton of the 124th Legislative District is organizing an event to honor local farmers in Berks and Schuylkill counties. The event aims to express gratitude for their contributions to the community by hosting a breakfast. Additionally, Barton has arranged a "Blessing of the Balers" ceremony to pray for a fruitful planting season.
The Blessing of the Balers is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, at 8:30 a.m. at C.J. Hummels Restaurant in Lenhartsville, with breakfast following the ceremony.
"The event may be called Blessing of the Balers, but we’re praying for much more than just the balers," Barton stated. "Our farmers work from sunup to sundown to make sure the rest of us have fruits, vegetables, grains and livestock to feed our families. But no matter how hard they work, they need a little help from Mother Nature to make sure their fields get the proper amount of rain."
Barton encourages all agricultural workers to attend and participate in prayers for a successful growing season. Following this, he wishes to show appreciation by providing them with a warm meal.
For those interested in attending, RSVPs can be made by contacting Barton's district office at 484-660-3721 or visiting his official website or Facebook page.
