Rep. Mark Gillen has announced that six fire companies in the 128th District will receive a total of $128,572 in grant funding to support their operational needs. The funding is part of the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program.
"Our local fire companies are the backbone of public safety, responding to emergency calls at a moment’s notice," Gillen stated. "This funding is a direct investment in their ability to protect our communities and helps ensure they have the equipment, training, and resources needed to perform their duties safely and effectively."
The Berks County fire companies benefiting from this grant include Amity Fire Company in Douglassville with $15,246, Birdsboro-Union Fire Department in Birdsboro receiving $26,815, Cumru Township Volunteer Firefighters Association in Mohnton awarded $40,322, Friendship Fire Company No. 1 in Geigertown getting $12,233, Monarch Fire Co. No. 1 in Douglassville allocated $13,955, and Twin Valley Fire Department in Elverson which will receive $20,000.
The program aims to assist with projects such as construction or renovation of facilities for fire or ambulance services, purchase or repair of equipment, training initiatives, and debt reduction.
