Rep. Jamie Barton (R-Berks/Schuylkill) led a ceremony to dedicate a plaque marking the 80th anniversary of the Allied Invasion of Normandy. The event took place at the state Capitol grounds in Harrisburg, where the plaque is now positioned under a red oak tree planted on June 6, 1984, to honor the 40th anniversary of D-Day.

The Delewski family donated the plaque, and some members of this family live in the 124th Legislative District. During his remarks, Barton highlighted the significance of D-Day in World War II. "D-Day changed the course of the second world war," he stated. "Thanks to the unparalleled bravery of U.S. troops 80 years ago today, freedom won. And thanks to the Delewski family, visitors to the state Capitol will remember their bravery. I hope in another 80 years, future generations of Pennsylvanians will see this plaque and feel the same pride we feel today."

The dedication included Rep. Jamie Barton and Sen. Chris Gebhard posing with members of the Delewski family beside their donated plaque.
