Rep. David Maloney (R-Berks) has revealed the allocation of $184,390 in grant funding for community enhancements in the 130th Legislative District. The grants were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) through the Local Shares Account statewide program, established by the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act of 2004.

"This is a very competitive grant program, so I am very pleased we were able to secure substantial funding for three important projects to enhance the quality of life in our communities," expressed Rep. David Maloney.

The projects receiving funding include a new playground at Treichlers Mill Park in Hereford Township, an emergency generator for the Trout Run Dam pump station in Boyertown Borough, and the rehabilitation of a chlorine chamber at a wastewater treatment plant in Topton Borough.

Hereford Township will benefit from $67,095 for the construction of a new playground at Treichlers Mill Park. The playground will be made of commercial-grade vinyl and will include new wood fiber mulch, a playground border, and improved drainage to maintain the park as a desirable location for outdoor activities for local families.

Topton Borough will receive $57,295 to rehabilitate the deteriorating chlorine chamber at its wastewater treatment plant. The project aims to repair concrete damage caused by corrosion from chlorine, preventing further deterioration and improving the disinfection process.

In Boyertown Borough, a grant of $60,000 will go towards installing an emergency generator at the Trout Run Dam pump station. This generator will ensure continuous operation of the water supply system serving approximately 8,000 residents during power outages, maintaining access to clean water even in times of emergency.

The projects funded by the grants aim to enhance community infrastructure and quality of life for residents in the 130th Legislative District.
