Spring issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.
This is an advisory for the water customers of the Shillington Municipal Authority, namely, residents of the Boroughs of Shillington and Mohnton and portions of Cumru Township and Spring Township. Please be advised that the Municipal Authority’s water supplier, Western Berks Water Authority, is experiencing a shutdown due to a mechanical failure. Therefore, the Municipal Authority is activating its emergency water source to supply water to the area for domestic use and fire protection. However, the Municipal Authority is requesting that all customers conserve water by eliminating unnecessary uses, such as landscape watering and pool filling, until further notified. This is not a boil water advisory. Water may be used safely without boiling it.
You may experience cloudy water or lower than normal pressures until all repairs are completed at the Western Berks Water Authority plant. You will continue to be advised as further updates become available. Thank you for your help during this incident.
