Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) announced that President Joe Biden has signed into law H.R. 3865, a bill he introduced to rename the post office at 101 South 8th Street in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, as the "Lieutenant William D. Lebo Post Office Building.” The announcement coincides with National Police Week, which runs from Sunday, May 12, through Saturday, May 18.

The legislation was cosponsored by Pennsylvania’s entire House delegation and received overwhelming bipartisan support, passing unanimously in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. It pays tribute to Lt. William D. Lebo of the Lebanon City Police Department who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on March 31, 2022, while responding to a domestic-related burglary incident. Lt. Lebo was a 40-year veteran of the Lebanon Police Department and was just 30 days from retirement at the time of his passing.

“Lt. Lebo's four decades of service stand as a testament to his profound commitment to the City of Lebanon," said Congressman Meuser. "Renaming the post office in his beloved hometown will serve as a lasting tribute to his extraordinary life and legacy of service."

Lora Lebo, wife of Lt. William Lebo, expressed her gratitude for this permanent reminder of her husband's dedication to public service: “We hope that it will serve as a reminder that police are here to protect us, and each of them dedicate their lives to serving the public.”

Lebanon County District Attorney Pier Hess Graf echoed these sentiments: "Just over two years ago Lt. William Lebo sacrificed his life in the line of duty... Our community owes a debt to Lt. Lebo which can never be repaid."

Mayor Sherry Capello and Police Chief Bret Fisher also voiced their support for this tribute to Lt. Lebo's legacy.

A dedication ceremony will be planned in coordination with the Lebo family, with details to be released in the near future.
