Congressman Meuser Secures $2 Million for Schuylkill County Emergency Operations Center

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) announced the allocation of $2 million in federal funding for the construction of a new Emergency Operations Center in Schuylkill County. The funding, included in the FY24 Appropriations legislation, aims to enhance emergency response capabilities in the region.

Expressing his satisfaction with the secured funding, Congressman Meuser stated, "I’m happy to have secured $2 million for Schuylkill County to build a cutting-edge Emergency Operations Center. This state-of-the-art facility will greatly enhance the county’s ability to respond to emergencies and provide crucial backup support to its 911 response team. This investment is essential to providing top-tier emergency services throughout Schuylkill County and safeguarding our region’s residents."

Schuylkill County Commissioner Larry Padora also commended the collaboration that led to securing the funding, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on various organizations. Padora stated, “This funding will greatly support the training of firefighters, our emergency management team, and numerous other first responders. I believe it's a fantastic development for our county and the surrounding areas, benefiting a multitude of organizations that can make use of this facility."

Commissioner Boots Hetherington shared his excitement about the project, stating, “Schuylkill County is thrilled to announce that we've secured funding to construct a brand-new Emergency Operations Center, a project we've tirelessly pursued for years." He highlighted the importance of the new facility in enhancing emergency response capabilities and ensuring better service and protection for the community.

Echoing the sentiment, Commissioner Gary Hess expressed gratitude to Congressman Meuser for his role in securing the crucial funding. Hess emphasized the significance of strengthening volunteer emergency services and ensuring public safety through the establishment of the new Emergency Operations Center.

The construction of the Emergency Operations Center is set to address a pressing priority for Schuylkill County and provide essential resources for emergency response efforts in the region.
