Rep. Jamie Barton announced that the Pennsylvania Department of Education has awarded Kutztown University a grant of $40,000 under the "It's On Us PA" program. This initiative is a statewide campaign aiming to end sexual assault by involving college and university presidents, educators, students, families, and community members in reshaping the dialogue surrounding sexual violence.

Barton emphasized the importance of safety in educational settings: “No student should have to go to school scared to become a victim of sexual assault,” he stated. He added that effectively utilizing these funds will help create safer learning environments which are essential for successful education.

The grant covers the period from January 2024 through May 2025 and aims to support various strategies on campuses aligned with the goals of the "It's On Us PA" campaign. These objectives include enhancing awareness, prevention, reporting, and response systems related to sexual violence in educational institutions. The funding also seeks to eliminate barriers for survivors by establishing a more supportive reporting process and fostering leadership among education leaders and communities to improve institutional climates.
