FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments from January to September 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have submitted a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to Dekalb County. The request was sent on September 26, 2024.
We are seeking access to records detailing all payments made to vendors by the county from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024. Specifically, we have asked for information regarding the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount for each payment.
As a media organization, our role is not only to gather and report news but also to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency for the public. Access to these public records is crucial in fulfilling these responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals engaged in disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
