As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Berks County News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Spring Township Police Pension Plan. The request was made under the Pennsylvania Right to Know Law, seeking access to records in electronic format.

Specifically, we have requested a list of all active employees and retired employees for the year 2023 included in the organization's pension fund. The data fields requested include last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, employer name, employment start date, employment end date, salary, compensation type, amount, year of contribution or disbursement, process date of contribution or disbursement, last disbursement amount and frequency as well as the 2023 contribution amount.

Our aim is to ensure transparency and accountability within public institutions. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional due to our role in disseminating information.

We will keep you updated with any responses or developments regarding this request.
