Rep. David Maloney (R-Berks) expressed his full support for House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler's (R-Lancaster) recent introduction of House Resolution 501. If passed, this resolution would establish a House Select Committee to investigate the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, which occurred in Pennsylvania on July 13.

"As the author of Pennsylvania’s First Responder Day law, I have great confidence in our law enforcement, EMS and volunteer first responders," Maloney stated. "Our first responders who answered the call and reportedly first alerted federal authorities to the shooter that day are to be commended. Sadly, a volunteer firefighter lost his life shielding his family from the bullets. I am volunteering to serve on this select committee should House Resolution 501 pass."

Maloney's legislation, signed into law on November 17, 2021, designates September 27 each year as First Responders Day in Pennsylvania.
