Representative Barry Jozwiak from Berks County has revealed that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) Multimodal Transportation Fund has allocated $705,000 in grant funding for two transportation improvement projects in the county. Speaking about the grants, Jozwiak expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "I’m thrilled to see these funds coming into Berks County to upgrade our roads and infrastructure to enhance the lives of those in our communities."
The grants are set to benefit South Heidelberg Township and Bethel Township in Berks County. South Heidelberg Township will receive $390,000 for the construction of a new extension of Krick Lane, aimed at improving traffic flow in an area with two large residential developments. Additionally, a $315,000 grant has been approved for improvements at the Bethel Business Center site in Bethel Township, which will involve signalizing an intersection to enhance traffic flow and safety on Camp Swatara Road.
Established in 2004, the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) serves as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development, overseeing Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The Multimodal Transportation Fund, managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, provides grants to support economic development and ensure a safe transportation system for residents of the commonwealth.
