Citizens,
As you may know the Township applied for and received a grant award from PA DCNR (Department of Conservation & Natural Resources) to develop a Recreation, Parks and Open Space Comprehensive Plan.
Today a kickoff meeting was held with Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to discuss the path to begin the project which will include hiring a firm to conduct the study. This process to begin the study will be underway soon with a big piece being solicitation of feedback from citizens so that the plan can be developed with public input. We will also be soliciting input from various other entities such as youth organizations, the school district, etc. There will be announcements on facebook, the township website and codered when we begin so that citizens are aware and able to participate in the process of shaping the plan and the future of our recreation, parks and open space.
The comprehensive plan when completed will identify specific "projects" and will allow the Township to apply for future grants to help fund those projects. It will also assist with providing the strategy to create cohesive recreation that is planned and well thought out with public input.
Attached below are links to other municipalities that have commissioned a comprehensive plan to provide Citizens with an idea of the end result would look like:
