EXETER TOWNSHIP SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: Keystone Testing Information

High%2520school036

Exeter Township Senior High School recently issued the following announcement.

Keystone Testing Information

Keystone Exams are end-of-course assessments and are part of Pennsylvania’s statewide high school graduation requirements for the Class of 2023 and later. Additional information on Keystone Exams may be found on the PDE website.

Exeter Township High School will administer Keystone exams during both the winter and spring testing windows this school year. Tests in Biology, 10th-grade Literature, and Algebra I will be administered in February for students who completed those classes in the first semester. A similar window of testing will occur in May for students in yearlong and second semester courses. In all cases, students and their parents will be notified directly when they are scheduled to test.

The testing is required to be conducted in person and in school. As always, the safety of our students and staff is paramount. We will be following the CDC guidelines as part of our district Health and Safety Plan.

We are continuing to receive guidance from PDE about the administration of these exams as well as how these exams will be counted toward graduation requirements for the Class of 2023 and later. We will continue to update this page if there are significant changes or announcements.

Here are some key points about the requirements for Keystone testing:

All students who take Biology, 10th-grade English, or Algebra I this year must take Keystone Exams in those respective subjects.

Students in the Class of 2023 and beyond must meet state graduation requirements that include Keystone testing.

Any student who completed a course in an academic content area associated with a Keystone Exam (Algebra I, 10th grade English, Biology) during the 2019-2020 school year shall not be required to take the Keystone Exam related to that course and shall be deemed proficient, provided the student passed the course at ETHS.

Students who took Algebra I, 10th-grade English, or Biology in 2019-2020 and are not required to test this year but wish to take the test may request to take the Keystone exam.

If you have specific questions about Keystone testing requirements or how they apply to your child, please contact Dr. Wright directly at mdwright@exetersd.org or 610-779-3060, extension 2146.
