Pennsylvania Department of General Services issued the following announcement on May 4.
Due to ongoing mitigation efforts to address the spread of COVID-19 and a pause on routine state government purchasing, the commonwealth will not be holding the spring Heavy Equipment Auction that usually takes place in early May for municipalities and June for the general public. The commonwealth will explore options for a future auction in September 2020.
As a measure of fiscal responsibility, the commonwealth will continue its operations with its current inventory of heavy equipment and hold on any new purchases until a later date.
Through the Heavy Equipment Auction, the Department of General Services State Surplus Property Program – in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation – ordinarily offers off-road equipment, dump trucks and other items to municipalities before offering the remaining inventory to the general public for sale.
