Rep. David Maloney of the 130th Legislative District announced that $1,655,109 in grant funding has been awarded for community improvements from the Commonwealth Financing Authority's Local Share Account statewide program. This funding aims to enhance infrastructure and services in Bally, Topton, Bechtelsville, and Fleetwood.

Maloney expressed satisfaction with securing these funds: “This is a very competitive grant program, so I am very pleased we were able to secure substantial funding for these important projects to enhance the quality of life in our communities.”

The borough of Bally will receive $366,568 to renovate its municipal complex. The project includes installing an emergency generator and propane supply tank for uninterrupted services during power outages and adding ADA ramps for accessibility. Additionally, the building will be expanded to provide office space and an interrogation/interview room for the police department.

Topton Borough is set to receive $419,438 for a new ambulance. The current 2006 ambulance will be replaced with a 2023 model outfitted with necessary medical supplies and equipment due to maintenance costs impacting the budget.

Bechtelsville Borough plans to use its $69,103 allocation along with local funds for new playground equipment at Bechtelsville Park Playground. This includes two play units, a three-bay swing set, and wood fiber safety surfacing.

Fleetwood Area School District will benefit from an additional $800,000 through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program. These funds are designated for energy and climate-related upgrades at Fleetwood High School as part of ongoing renovations. Planned improvements include replacing boilers and lighting systems while ensuring emergency power capabilities are met.

The total cost of Fleetwood's project is estimated at $2,216,201 with matching funds provided by the school district itself.
