Highway sign dedication honors WWII veteran Cpl. Mahlon L. Fink

A ceremony is scheduled to take place in Cumru Township to unveil a highway sign honoring World War II veteran Cpl. Mahlon L. Fink. The event will officially mark the newly designated Cpl. Mahlon L. Fink Iwo Jima Memorial Highway Interchange.

State Representative Mark Gillen (R-Berks/Lancaster) will be present at the ceremony, which is set for Thursday, October 15, at 11 a.m. The location of the event is the interchange of U.S. Route 222 with Mohns Hill Road in Cumru Township.

Cpl. Mahlon L. Fink was a resident of Cumru Township and served in the Marines during World War II. He received a Purple Heart for his service at the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Parking for attendees will be available at the Gouglersville Fire Company Social Quarters located at 475 Mohns Hill Road, Reading.
