State lawmakers have passed a balanced supplemental budget to fund state programs and services through June 2021. This decision follows an earlier approval of a short-term stabilizing budget intended to support the state government until the end of November. State Representative Mark Gillen, representing Berks and Lancaster counties, expressed his support for the newly approved budget.

Gillen stated, "This budget is a commonsense, bipartisan plan based on the circumstances facing our Commonwealth. The big takeaway from this budget is that it is balanced and includes no new taxes this year, and we also took a step to avoid future tax increases by including no new state borrowing."

The approved budget aims to provide essential funding for various sectors including law enforcement, community safety initiatives, and public health programs. Gillen emphasized that the funding will cover core functions of state government using anticipated revenue without resorting to new taxes or borrowing.

Representative Mark Gillen serves Pennsylvania's 128th District in the House of Representatives.
