State Representative Mark Gillen from the Berks/Lancaster area announced his support for a temporary state budget bill that was recently approved by the House. The budget aims to fund most of Pennsylvania's state government for five months while ensuring full-year funding for schools, colleges, and universities in the state.

Gillen explained his vote, stating: "The unique set of circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic made it much more practical for us to adopt a temporary budget now and then reevaluate the situation in a number of months. This temporary budget would fund the core functions of government without any new or increased taxes. We are fully funding education for the entire year so parents and students will have some stability and predictability."

The bill is now awaiting consideration by the state Senate.
