Rep. David Maloney has announced that more than $1.6 million in grant funding will be distributed to several communities within the 130th Legislative District. The grants, provided by the Commonwealth Financing Authority as part of the Local Share Account statewide program, aim to support community improvement projects.
Maloney stated, "This is a very competitive grant program, so I am very pleased we were able to secure substantial funding for these important projects to enhance the quality of life in our communities." The breakdown of funds includes $366,568 for Bally to renovate its municipal complex, $419,438 for Topton to acquire a new ambulance, and $69,103 for Bechtelsville's playground improvements.
Additionally, Fleetwood Area School District will receive $800,000 from the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program. These funds will be used for energy and climate-related upgrades at Fleetwood High School. The total project cost is estimated at $2,216,201 with matching funds from the school district.
In Bally Borough, renovations include adding an emergency generator and ADA ramps and expanding the existing building to provide additional space for police department needs. Topton Borough plans to replace its aging ambulance with a new model equipped with necessary medical supplies. Bechtelsville Borough intends to use its funds alongside local resources to upgrade playground facilities with new equipment and safety surfacing.
Fleetwood School District's project focuses on replacing outdated infrastructure such as boilers and lighting systems with more efficient alternatives. This effort aims to create a conducive learning environment while reducing energy costs.
The projects reflect efforts across multiple sectors—municipal services, emergency response readiness, recreational facilities, and educational infrastructure—to enhance community living standards.
