WASHINGTON — On April 19,Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) announced that the Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority will receive $332,100 in federal funding.
The money was awarded through a grant program at the U.S. Department of Transportation and will be used to rehabilitate 1,000 feet of the existing airport access road to extend its use.
“I am happy to announce that a significant amount of federal money is heading to Williamsport Regional Airport,” Meuser said. “This is a positive development for the airport as we continue to fight to bring commercial air service back to Williamsport. The federal dollars will promote greater access to the airport and fund necessary improvements that will help revitalize the site. The airport is important to our community, and I will continue to advocate on its behalf in Congress.”
On Tuesday, Meuser will testify before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to discuss two bills he recently introduced -- the Essential Air Service Reform Act and the Supporting Middle America’s Airports Act. Both pieces of legislation would take Williamsport Regional Airport one step closer to restoring commercial air service.
