Citizens,
South Heidelberg Township Chairman Tom Byrne received the Richard C. Trostle Intergovernmental Cooperation Award on Thursday March 16, 2023 as part of the Albright Center for Excellence in Local Government's 15th Annual Municipal Officials Dinner.
The Richard C. Trostle Award is presented annually to the elected municipal official who successfully demonstrates an outstanding commitment to bringing about cooperation among communities. Chairman Byrne was recognized for his efforts to provide police services to the Boroughs of Robesonia and Wernersville, Heidelberg Township and in providing a Certified School Resource Officer (SRO) to the Conrad Weiser School District.
Chairman Byrne worked with elected officials from all of these municipalities to forge 3 year agreements with the SHPD in 2019 which have renewed for 5 years starting in 2023. Chairman Byrne stated "I will continue to do my best to help South Heidelberg and our surrounding communities and appreciate the efforts of the municipal leaders in Robesonia, Wernersville and Heidelberg as well as the Administration and Board representing the Conrad Weiser School District." Chairman Byrne continued "It took a lot of people to make this happen and our areas are now provided consistent 24/7 police coverage which includes covering our CW Middle School, High School and CW East with our PD and SRO."
Congratulations to Chairman Byrne for receiving the Richard C. Trostle Award! And Thank you to the Albright Center for Excellence in Local Government and the many Elected Officials that serve Berks County.
