Cumru Elementary School issued the following announcement on Oct. 4.
Please know that our district is experiencing some impact from the statewide and national bus driver shortage. While we are not seeing some of the more severe effects of driver shortages, our transportation department is making daily adjustments to help ensure that our students have reliable transportation to and from school.
Our district contracts with Brandywine Transportation for all busing. We have been working closely with Brandywine to make last-minute substitutions for buses, when needed. If a bus arrives at your home/stop with a different bus number or with “Brandywine Transportation” on the side of the bus, you can ask to see the driver’s Governor Mifflin School District ID badge to be reassured that the bus is a Governor Mifflin bus.
In any cases when we anticipate transportation delays, we are doing our best to contact families prior to the start of the route so that you can plan accordingly. In some cases, especially with the need to change buses, the change is made quickly and there is not an opportunity to contact families prior to the bus arriving. If at any point you have a concern about the bus, please feel free to ask to see the driver’s Governor Mifflin ID badge prior to putting your child on the bus.
If you are interested in becoming a Governor Mifflin Bus Driver, please contact our transportation office at 610-775-1461 ext. 8.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.
