Cost of college went up for all students at Alvernia University

Tuition and fees rose 3.7 percent for 2018-19 at Alvernia University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania students paid $34,900 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $1,260 more than the $33,640 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 100 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 369 students received grants or scholarships totaling $7.3 million and 361 students took out student loans totaling more than $3 million.

Including all undergraduates (2,792), 1,897 students used grants or scholarships totaling $28.6 million, and 1,784 students took out $17.5 million in federal student loans.
