Rep. Jamie Barton is organizing a breakfast to honor the farmers of the 124th Legislative District, which serves Berks and Schuylkill counties. The event aims to acknowledge their efforts to provide food and support the community. Before the meal, Barton has scheduled a Blessing of the Balers, a ceremony intended to pray for a safe and fruitful planting season.
This event will occur on Thursday, May 1, at 8:30 a.m. at C.J. Hummels Restaurant in Lenhartsville, with breakfast following the blessing. Afterward, Barton, along with Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding, will address queries pertaining to agricultural state issues.
“Our farmers are some of the hardest-working people in the nation,” Barton stated. “Their hard work is the reason the rest of us have food on our tables. It’s great to get the chance to return the favor and give the farmers a warm meal to thank them for all they do for us. Before we eat, we’ll gather in prayer for a little help from Mother Nature to make sure their fields get the proper amount of rain, and ask for the safety of our farmers as they work to feed our communities and our Commonwealth.”
Interested parties can RSVP by contacting Barton’s district office at 484-660-3721.
